Grant Application in Process

The Strawberry Trail Digital Museum Project offers a transformative journey through the Kawartha portion of Michi Saagiig territory, anchored in the metaphor of the strawberry as a symbol of reconciliation and holistic learning. Starting at the eastern traditional entry point, it features key locations such as Curve Lake First Nation, Bobcaygeon, and Port Perry, where stories of the land and people—past and present—are vividly told. Through interactive tools, visitors  explore “runners” (specific locations), “roots” (cultural context), and “berries” (post-contact impacts), with engaging formats like videos, timelines, and artifacts.

Developed in collaboration with Indigenous Knowledge Holders and Elders, the project integrates Indigenous pedagogies, emphasizing relational, experiential learning. Visitors will engage with topics such as traditional governance, treaties, and artistic celebrations, fostering respect and understanding. Created using a community co-design approach, with bilingual and interactive elements, the project bridges cultural divides and promotes reconciliation, while preserving and sharing the Michi Saagiig heritage.
